How to re-vote or get your control number to vote
We have received reports from shareholders who were unable to get help from Fidelity to get their control numbers so that they can vote. Fidelity’s lawyers have assured us that the problems have been addressed. If you have not already voted, please do!
See below for how to re-vote, how to get your control number, and how to escalate at Fidelity if you still have problems.
- Contact us if you are having problems getting the information you need, from Fidelity, since we are giving Fidelity feedback to improve the process for shareholders trying to vote.
- Click here to take a short survey on your voting experience.
- If you hold your Fidelity shares through a third party agent, such as E-Trade, you should call that agent for help, not Fidelity.
- Note that some funds may reference the genocide-free investing proposal as proposal three, while other funds may list it with a different number. Click here for the list of funds voting on 4/16 and 5/14.
- Check the card or email for the control number. You must have the control number to vote.
- Go to ProxyVote.com and follow the instructions to enter your control number and vote.
- Make sure you ask to vote on each proposal, rather than accept Fidelity managements recommendations. If you care about GENOCIDE, vote YES on the genocide-free investing proposal!
- Fidelity's proxy materials say to call this number 1-800-544-3198. Customer service may route you to people who take care of 401k accounts, 403b accounts, or individual accounts.
- You will be asked your social security number. You may be asked for other confirming ID information, such as account number or PIN. They will ask enough questions to confirm that they can talk to you.
- Tell the customer service agent that you need a control number to vote your proxy.
- If the Fidelity customer service agent is having difficulty helping you, ask to escalate to management, so that you can get your control number so you can vote. Get the agent's name and phone number so you can call them back, if needed.
- If the agent suggests that you talk to another group identified as proxy voting services or DF King, decline, since that group has confirmed that they can not help you get your control number. DF King is a 3rd party hired by Fidelity to do phone solicitations to get more votes. However, they are only soliciting some shareholders for some funds. Instead, escalate to management at Fidelity's customer service.
- The customer service agent may tell you that they will get back to you, or that they will send something soon. If they are going to send you the control number, ask if they can email it to you, rather than mail it to you, so that you get it as soon as possible.
- We're eager to hear news on improvements with Fidelity customer service, or if there are still problems. Email us at info@InvestorsAgainstGenocide and tell us what happened.
- Once you get the control number, go to ProxyVote.com and follow the instructions to enter your control number and vote.
- Make sure you ask to vote on each proposal, rather than accept Fidelity managements recommendations. If you care about GENOCIDE, vote YES on the genocide-free investing proposal!
