Allianz almost completely divested!

  • Allianz became the largest holder of PetroChina on the New York Stock Exchange, as of June 30, 2007. With those holdings, Allianz became one of the largest holders of PetroChina on a global basis. Nearly all of the shares it owned were from the New York Stock Exchange.
  • Allianz sold 100% of of its holdings of PetroChina on the New York Stock Exchange between 6/30/07 and 9/30/07.
  • Allianz's sell-off of PetroChina was worth between $693 million and $885 million, depending on the actual sales date(s).
  • Allianz still holds small amounts of PetroChina via H-shares from the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
  • Since Allianz is no longer one of the worlds largest investors in PetroChina, we have removed them from our list of targeted, problem financial institutions.

Allianz's holdings

  • Allianz's worldwide holdings of PetroChina were worth $715 million, estimated based on information accessed by the Sudan Divestment Task Force through Bloomberg LP and market-valued as of August 1, 2007.
  • Allianz holdings of PetroChina were primarily in its mutual funds, from Allianz, NFJ, PIMCO and RCM.
  • Allianz owned 4,665,756 (ADR) shares on the New York Stock Exchange. Those shares were held by its NFJ Dividend Value Fund, NFJ Dividend Interest and Premium Strategy Fund. The change was reflected in their holdings as of 9/30/2007 and reported in their SEC filing dated 11/13/2007.
